This presentation has been made for the workshop "Towards a South African Open Science Cloud", in the session on Data quality. It presents the role of Data Stewards in data quality at large and highlights the needs to understand them in a global context. Lastly it gives some examples of how data stewardship is addressed in the European scientific context.
