South African distribution: Central to northern KZN. Remarks: Smith (1957a) described a new genus (Neotriakis) for this species, but subsequent reviews determined it to be in the genus Eridacnis (Compagno, 1970, 1984b, 1988a; Bass et al., 1975b). The species appears to be relatively common in KZN waters, but also occurs off Mozambique and Tanzania. Conservation status: LC (2019).
