Leonurus indicus Linnaeus, Systema Naturae, ed. 10, 2: 1101. 1759. ["Habitat in India. Burmannus."] Sp. Pl., ed. 2, 2: 817 (1763). RCN: 4276. Lectotype (Sebald in Stuttgarter Beitr. Naturk., A, 341: 188. 1980): Herb. Linn. No. 739.8 (LINN). Current name: Leucas lavandulifolia Sm. (Lamiaceae). Note: Although Sebald indicated unspecified material that he had seen in LINN as “Typus”, this can only be 739.8 (LINN), and this is accepted as a valid type choice. The epithet “indicus” is preoccupied in Leucas R. Br. by Leucas indica (L.) R. Br. (based on Phlomis indica L. 1753), and the correct name for Leonurus indicus in Leucas is therefore Leucas lavandulifolia Sm.
