Abstract

Oryza sativa Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 333. 1753. "Habitat forte in Aethiopia, colitur in Indiae paludosis." RCN: 2574. Lectotype (Meikle, Fl. Cyprus 2: 1716. 1985): Herb. Linn. No. 460.1 (LINN). Generitype of Oryza Linnaeus. Current name: Oryza sativa L. (Poaceae). Note: Although Kerguélen (in Lejeunia, n.s., 75: 217. 1975) indicated unspecified material in LINN as type, this is not accepted as an effective typification (Art. 7.11). See Cafferty & al. (in Taxon 49: 240. 2000) for a detailed explanation.
