O teatro do absurdo e a crise da filosofia burguesa em foco

Abstract

RESUMO O teatro do absurdo se configura como uma das tendências artísticas de vanguarda, condicionadas pelo cenário político do pós-Segunda Guerra Mundial na Europa. Segundo o senso-comum dos estudos literários, o absurdo é amplamente marcado por um caráter transgressor, que questiona o racionalismo dito europeu, a partir do qual poderíamos retraçar as origens do irracionalismo nazifascista, algo que certas obras pertencentes ao absurdo, sobretudo as de EugèneIonesco, parecem elas próprias atestar. O que propomos aqui, contudo, é pôr em dúvida partes desse senso comum, levantando duas hipóteses complementares: (i) a transgressão das peças teatrais do absurdo, por sertão restrita à forma, corre o risco de revelar uma esterilidade que, às vezes, se torna quase reacionária; (ii) tal esterilidade se condiciona por uma crise do pensamento filosófico burguês, que embora não tenha nascido do racionalismo iluminista, substituiu, ao longo do século XIX, ideais revolucionários por correntes de pensamento irracionalistas. Escolhemos como objeto de análise duas obras emblemáticas do absurdo, Esperando Godot(EnattendantGodot), de Samuel Beckett (1952), e Orinoceronte (Rhinocéros), de EugèneIonesco (1959), a fim de mostrar em que medida elas são sintomáticas da crise do pensamento burguês, que não atinge, contudo, da mesma maneira todas as artes produzidas naquela mesma época. Ao fim do artigo, contrastamos os textos de Beckett e de Ionesco com a produção de um outro autor, contemporâneo aos dois anteriores: Aimé Césaire, cujo ciclo dramatúrgico sobre o colonialismo (1963-1969) é transgressor tanto na forma quanto no conteúdo.
