Abstract

Pengamatan mengenai laju pertumbuhan populasi bertujuan untuk mengetahui laju pertumbuhan populasi Sitophilus oryzae pada berbagai media dilakukan pada Kamis, 20 Maret 2025 di Laboratorium Ekologi Hewan Departemen Biologi, Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam, Universitas Andalas, Padang.. Adapun alat yang digunakan dalam praktikum ini adalah kain kasa, karet gelang, toples dan alat tulis. Bahan yang digunakan yaitu kumbang Sitophilus oryzae, beras dan ketan hitam. Sitophilus oryzae dimasukkan ke dalam toples yang masing-masingnya berisi 250 gram beras dan ketan hitam. Toples ditutup dengan kain kasa dan karet gelang kemudian diletakkan di tempat gelap. Pengamatan dilakukan selama 4 minggu dengan mengamati jumlah Sitophilus oryzae yang hidup dan mati, suhu ruang dan kelembaban relatif sehingga dapat ditentukan laju pertumbuhan populasinya dan kurva pertumbuhan pada masing-masing media. Pemahaman dan pengetahuan mengenai laju pertumbuhan populasi ini bermanfaat untuk melakukan upaya konservasi terhadap spesies tertentu dengan mempertimbangkan kondisi optimal yang mendukung pertumbuhan populasinya.
