
Actualmente, existen testimonios de viajeros lanzados a la aventura de conocer mundo que se han convertido en un recurso para el conocimiento del patrimonio y la formación cultural. Desde una perspectiva descriptiva, se analizan los aportes de 38 memorias de viajeros en el marco de una educación patrimonial que, centrada en la comprensión y valoración de lo que nos ha sido legado, requiere de una aproximación a la realidad social y cultural en la que se inscribe la obra de arte. Los resultados obtenidos ponen de manifiesto las ventajas e inconvenientes de una literatura que, entre otras funciones de naturaleza pedagógica, supone una nueva perspectiva de la formación competencial establecida por el Consejo Europeo. El trabajo concluye destacando la necesidad de otorgar a la educación patrimonial un enfoque interdisciplinar, en este caso apoyado en un recurso literario, para romper las barreras a las que tradicionalmente se ha visto sometido el estudio del patrimonio.
Currently, there are testimonies from travellers who have embarked on journeys to explore the world. These have become a valuable resource for understanding heritage and cultural education. From a descriptive perspective, the contributions of 38 travel memoirs are analyzed within the context of heritage education. This approach, focused on comprehending and appreciating what has been passed down to us, requires an understanding of the social and cultural reality in which the work of art is embedded. The results obtained highlight the advantages and disadvantages of literature that, among its pedagogical functions, offers a new perspective on competency-based education as established by the European Council. The work concludes by emphasizing the need to provide heritage education with an interdisciplinary approach, in this case, supported by literary resources, to break down the traditional barriers that have constrained the study of heritage.
