Bothrops jararaca (Wied, 1824) Type locality. Lagoa d’Arara, Mucuri, state of Bahia, Brazil. Distribution. Endemic to Brazil (Plt. 63A). Widespread in Atlantic Forest and Araucaria Forest (Plt. 63A) from low to high elevations (Plt. 63B). Previous maps and taxonomy in Campbell and Lamar (2004). Observed in the field in primary and disturbed forest (Campbell and Lamar, 2004; Barbo et al., 2011; Rojas and Serrano, 2019).
