TERAPIAS ALTERNATIVAS DE SAÚDE X ALOPATIA: TENDÊNCIAS ENTRE ACADÊMICOS DE MEDICINA

Abstract

RESUMO: Influenciadas pelo paradigma newtoniano-cartesiano, as teorias médicas se fundamentam no modelo biomédico de assistência à saúde, onde o indivíduo deixa de ser visto como uma parte integrante do cosmo. Entretanto, a partir do final do século XIX desponta o grande paradigma holístico que revela um universo holístico, vivo, sistematizado, interligado e dinâmico. Neste contexto emergem as Terapias Alternativas que, na sua maioria enfocam o indivíduo de uma forma global (mente, corpo, comportamento e meio-ambiente). O presente trabalho é um estudo descritivo-exploratório do qual participaram acadêmicos de medicina com o propósito de identificar a influência do paradigma atual na formação profissional e a percepção dos acadêmicos acerca das Terapias Alternativas, em relação ao conceito, críticas, credibilidade e aceitação. Constatou-se que a influência do paradigma newtoniano-cartesiano na formação profissional dos acadêmicos de medicina é evidente, que a maioria tem preferência pela terapêutica alopática e que as Terapias Alternativas são pouco abordadas durante a graduação. Observou-se também a preocupação quanto à cientificidade das Terapias Alternativas. Entretanto, existem acadêmicos preocupados e insatisfeitos com a compartimentalização do indivíduo. Concluímos que, devido às influências do modelo biomédico no ensino da graduação existe preferência pela terapêutica alopática, apesar do crescente número de pessoas que utilizam e crêem nas Terapias Alternativas de saúde e da constatação da existência de vários trabalhos científicos que comprovam sua eficácia, ou abordam a temática, o que reforça nossa convicção de que o paradigma newtoniano-cartesiano está sendo superado.
