La atención a la discapacidad en los recursos de acogimiento residencial

Abstract

En este trabajo se presentan algunas de las conclusiones extraídas de un estudio realizado en 2014 y actualizado en 2015 sobre los recursos de acogimiento residencial existentes en Galicia. En nuestra investigación se han analizado el número de menores acogidos y el tipo de centros de atención residencial en los que se encuentran. De igual modo, se ha identificado el perfil del menor, el tipo de profesional y los programas que se implementan en estos centros. Si bien las intervenciones y atenciones prestadas en dispositivos de acogimiento residencial implican una importante especialización, estas tareas han de ser necesariamente más específicas en el caso de menores que presentan una discapacidad o una situación de dependencia. En base a esta hipótesis, se recogen las atenciones específicas que la normativa vigente en España contempla para los menores con discapacidad en medidas de acogimiento. Las conclusiones apuntan a un alto número de acogimientos residenciales en Galicia en contraste con los de España, así como la necesidad de una mayor coordinación y especialización en los programas de atención específicos para personas con diversidad funcional y/o necesidades educativas especiales en los centros de acogimiento residencial de Galicia.
