ELETROFISIOLOGIA DA VISÃO DO GATO

Abstract

O objetivo do presente estudo foi realizar uma revisão de literatura sobre a eletrofisiologia da visão de gato, abrangendo as particularidades anatômicas e funcionais do sistema visual, bem como explicar como ocorre o processo de formação da imagem e estruturas envolvidas. O sistema visual é formado pelo bulbo ocular e suas três camadas, pálpebras, terceira pálpebra e conjuntiva. O olho do gato é menor, quando visto de forma anteroposterior, porém, a córnea, câmara anterior e lente apresentam-se de maior tamanho ocupando 10% do bulbo ocular. O felino possui ótima capacidade de adaptação e eficiência visual noturna, fato este explicado pela presença de estruturas como o tapetum lucidum, a pupila em forma de fenda, córnea com grande curvatura, retina com sensibilidade 7 vezes maior que a retina humana. A luz penetra através da córnea, ganhando a fenda pupilar e chega ao cristalino, que em conjunto com o humor aquoso e o humor vítreo tem como função a transmissão e refração do raio luminoso sobre a retina. Esse estímulo luminoso precisa atravessar a retina, ser detectado por fotorreceptores para ocorrer a transmissão pelo nervo óptico e trato óptico ao tálamo, e depois através da via de radiações ópticas. A retina é responsável pela visão. Trata-se de uma estrutura fotossensorial complexa, considerada uma projeção do cérebro e possui fotorreceptores (cones e bastonetes).
