Transformadas de Fourier sobre grupos

Abstract

La transformada de Fourier es una herramienta matemática versátil que se utiliza en múltiples ámbitos de las matemáticas como objeto de estudio y por sus aplicaciones prácticas, sin embargo, la forma estándar en la cual se define la transformada de Fourier solo permite realizarla sobre funciones con dominio real. Se puede generalizar la transformada de Fourier a los grupos abelianos finitos a partir de la teoría de caracteres, la cual permite realizar la transformada de Fourier sobre las funciones cuyo dominio es el espacio de Hilbert inducido por estos mismos grupos abelianos finitos. En el texto se introduce la teoría de caracteres, desarrollando esta teoría hasta poder realizar la transformada de Fourier y su inversa sobre grupos abelianos finitos a partir de conceptos a nivel de pregrado de álgebra abstracta, álgebra lineal y análisis funcional. Adicionalmente, se presentan algunas implicaciones que conlleva la teoría de caracteres para las aplicaciones prácticas de las transformadas de Fourier, construyendo una base bajo la cual se puede utilizar la transformada de Fourier en dominios más amplios que los números reales.
