Introduction: Auditory lateralization is the ability to distinguish between left and right, which happens through the ITD (Interaural Time Difference). The ITD is the time necessary for the sound wave to travel through the diameter of the human head. There’s a lack of available valid clinical tests for evaluating this ability. The Click Ordering Lateralization Test (COLT) was designed to evaluate this auditory skill by measuring the lesser ITD threshold. There has been evidence of the accuracy and feasibility of the COLT, although it is necessary to verify the cognitive influence in it, as well as its ecological validity, accessed through questionnaires and the electrophysiological measures, accessed through a measures elaborated for the Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR). Methods: 50 normal-hearing subjects, aged between 8- and 40-year-old, without psychiatric, neurologic and cognitive disorders, will be submitted to the COLT and a battery of cognitive tests as well as questionnaires about the hearing domain, foremost the elaboration of a new protocol to obtain the electrophysiological correlations through the ABR. Expected results: The expected results are for the COLT to establish weak to moderate relations with the cognitive tests, since the construction of the COLT analyses is auditory lateralization, an auditory skill, and the influence of the task is not as significant. At the same time, it is expected to establish moderated to strong relationships between the COLT and the questionnaires, due to the impact of the construct in daily life. The electrophysiological correlations will be verified through the ABR with a new protocol. Keywords: Sound localization. Sound lateralization. Central auditory processing.
