AEC Highlander slender wheatgrass, Elymus trachycaulus (Link) Gould in Stunners subsp. trachycaulus, was developed for use in reclaiming and revegetating disturbed sites in the mountains and foothills of Alberta. Its primary advantage over other varieties is its ability to grow rapidly and produce mature seed in the short growing seasons found at higher elevations.
