A 1 km digital terrain model (GDCTOPO1) for Canada in a Lambert Conformal conic projection has been developed using 1 km elevations from the digital terrain data for the Cordillera (Geophysical Data Centre, GSC) and edited GTOPO-30 digital terrain data for the rest of Canada (EROS Data Centre, USGS). The complete data set will be released June 19, 1998 on CD-ROM. File formats include TIFF, GXF, GEOSOFT, ARCINFO, direct-access binary grid and ASCII latitude, longitude, elevation. For an image of the model, visit the Geophysical Data Centre's home page at this URL: http://gdcinfo.agg.NRCan.gc.ca/ Custom data processing for user-specified areas, projections and formats is also available. Contact the Geophysical Data Centre, Ottawa, for a price quote. Colour maps of the terrain model covering Canada (1:7 500 000) and the provinces (1:1 000 000 or 1:2 000 000) will also be available.
