A recirculating, tiltable, sedimentation flume has been constructed, primarily for research on fluvial processes, although the apparatus can be adapted easily to studies of lacustrine and certain beach phenomena. The main channel is 18. 3 metres long, O. 76 metres wide, and O. 6 metres deep. A transparent acrylic section 5 metres long exists in each of the two return pipes. Various devices have been installed to aid measurement of flow variables.
