Le mausolée de Sagone (Vico, Corse-du-Sud)

Le mausolée de Sagone (Vico, Corse-du-Sud)

Abstract

Mots clés : Mausolée, Sépulture, V e siècle, Basilique, Culte des saints Summary : Archaeological excavations carried out in the small town of Sagone, on the southwest coast of Corsica, have led to the discovery of a mausoleum dating from around 430-450. Several clues suggest that the body of the deceased buried there was transferred to the neighbouring basilica, whose presbyterium was refurbished. This mausoleum could be the mausoleum of Appian, the saintly titular saint of the basilica.
