Le témoignage de Joaquina Grefa, captive quechua chez les Waoranis (Équateur, 1945). En 1944, un groupe de Waoranis enleva une jeune fille quechua qui réussit à leur échapper un an plus tard. Elle raconta à un missionnaire anglais sa vie parmi ces Indiens. À cette époque, les Waoranis entretenaient des relations exclusivement agressives avec la société environnante, ce qui explique l’absence d’informations extérieures sur ce groupe, faute de témoignages directs. Le récit de Joaquina revêt dès lors un caractère exceptionnel, car il décrit différents aspects de la vie quotidienne des Waoranis, y compris les actes de guerre.
