Criada e formada em antropologia nos Estados Unidos, Esther Jean Langdon tem uma profunda experiência de trabalho de campo com os Siona na Amazônia colombiana e atua profissionalmente, há quatro décadas, na Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, no sul do Brasil. Percorremos, no texto, a produção intelectual da autora, destacando as ressonâncias entre os assuntos em torno dos quais se articula a sua obra: saúde indígena, xamanismo e performance. A partir desse percurso, apontamos os conceitos principais—prática, dialogicidade e emergência—que caracterizam as suas contribuições teóricas e etnográficas.
