Comment adapter l’enseignement à la variation linguistique réunionnaise ?

Abstract

Les observations des productions langagières réunionnaises montrent qu’en plus des lectes français et créoles, il existe toute la gamme de formes originales issues d’alternances, de mixages et d’autres négociations, constituant les formes interlectales. Face à ces productions spectaculaires et imprévisibles, contraires à ce que prétend être une grammaire, la notion de langue définie par les structuralistes comme produit social, objet structural immanent et autonome (Prudent, 1981) ne peut être que questionnée. Toutefois, lorsque l’on s’intéresse à l’acquisition du créole et du français et à ses implications pédagogiques, cette notion se doit d’être réinvestie afin de se plier aux exigences scolaires. Comment alors prendre en compte les infinies manifestations de l’interlecte tout en proposant des projets pédagogiques et didactiques cohérents pour l’Ecole qui postule l’existence de la langue comme objet normé aux frontières définies entrant dans une progression d’acquisition cohérente ? Cet article se propose de présenter des pistes pédagogiques et didactiques adaptées aux besoins de l’enfant qui, au niveau linguistique, tiennent compte du fonctionnement de la langue créole et des phénomènes de contacts de langue et au niveau sociolinguistique valorisent le basilecte, tout en respectant les normes, le fonctionnement institutionnel et l’organisation de l’école.
