Cet article s’inscrit dans le cadre d’une histoire des idees politiques argentines. Il traite de la pensee de Manuel Ugarte (1875-1951), ecrivain socialiste atypique dont l’œuvre s’articule autours des themes du nationalisme, de l’unite continentale latino-americaine et de l’anti-imperialisme. Plus precisement, on s’interesse ici a la periode pendant laquelle cet auteur, faute de trouver un echo favorable a ses idees dans son pays natal, a vecu a Nice entre 1921 et 1933. Il s’agit de determiner les effets de cet exil « volontaire » sur sa pensee, notamment a travers ses rencontres (il collabore en France a la revue Monde de Barbusse). De facon generale, notre objectif est de mettre en correlation la formation et l’evolution de ses idees avec son parcours biographique.
