Abstract

No ano de 1831, o médico estrangeirado Francisco Solano Constâncio (1777-1846) publicou em Paris duas obras metalinguísticas elaboradas para um público lusófono. Ao lado da Grammatica analytica da lingua portugueza (Constâncio, 1831b), a Nova grammatica da lingua franceza (Constâncio, 1831a) é de especial interesse para a tradição metalinguística francesa e a história do ensino da língua francesa em Portugal, uma vez que o autor identifica a sua possível fonte no rosto da sua obra. Por isso, o presente artigo oferece uma análise da descrição inicial das partes da oração na Nova grammatica da lingua franceza à luz da Nouvelle grammaire française, sur un plan très-méthodique, uma obra metalinguística contemporânea importante dos gramáticos franceses François-Joseph-Michel Noël (1756-1841) e Charles-Pierre Chapsal (1787-1858) que na altura já contava com vinte edições desde 1823.
