Este artículo analiza la novela negra El filo diestro del durmiente (2013), del mexicano Héctor Fernando Vizcarra, a partir de dos ejes temáticos: el movimiento dialéctico entre los registros lingüísticos y la estructura, por un lado, y la mirada escópica, por el otro. Los diferentes estratos discursivos (thriller, narratología, oralidad urbana, mass media) están atravesados por un punto de vista que mira en profundidad los mecanismos de construcción de la realidad. Vizcarra deja de lado la observación superficial y se adentra en la estética de la representación para reflexionar sobre los tiempos modernos.
