Les archives britanniques des sciences sociales. Deux études de cas : UK Data Archive (UKDA) et Qualidata

Abstract

The social science data archiving movement began in the 1960s within social science departments in the United-States and the UK. In 1967 a UK Data Archive (Essex University) was established to collect, preserve, disseminate and promote quantitative and qualitative datasets (1994, Qualidata). As an leading centre of expertise, the UK Data Archive has addressed issues such as data collection (deposit datasets obligation policy) and has promoted data secondary analysis and re-use of qualitative material through metadata production, clarification of the legal and ethical position, and theoretical reflexion.
