Abstract

L’attitude de l’Espagne envers les Musulmans qui occuperent pendant pres de huit siecles une partie du territoire de la peninsule Iberique est l’une des cles de son identite comme nation. C’est pourquoi il est important d’analyser la precoce apparition de la maurophilie dans la Legende des Sept Infants de Lara, dans laquelle Al-Mansur (Almanzor) est presente comme un gouverneur puissant – ce qu’il fut en effet –, mais aussi comme un personnage magnanime et plein de compassion. Le noble maure est capable de comprendre la douleur du pere inconsole des infants, de pardonner a celui-ci la mort de ses alguazils, de liberer son prisonnier, d’elever le fils de ce dernier a la cour de Cordoue et d’aider Mudarra quand le jeune homme decide de venger l’affront inflige a son pere par le traitre Ruy Velasquez. Dans l’axiologie de la legende il n’y a pas d’opposition entre des valeurs religieuses mais entre loyaute face a trahison, courage et franchise face a couardise et duplicite.
