This article is the first study on Finikas Romika (FR), based on the author's fieldwork. The purpose is to examine the structure and functions of FR and to contribute to the general discussion on Para-Romani. The article focuses on three points: (a) the replication of Romani vocabulary and grammatical elements in FR; (b) the divergence of the Greek component of FR from standard Greek; (c) the secret functions of FR. The last part of the article includes a comparison of FR with other Greek Para-Romani varieties, mainly the varieties of Janina (Soulis 1929) and Konitsa (Efthimiu 1954).
