Picaresca y determinismo social: expresiones contemporáneas de la picaresca en los videojuegos

Abstract

Centrando su atención en el determinismo social como una de las características fundamentales de los textos protagonizados por pícaros, este artículo se propone estudiar la pervivencia de la picaresca española e internacional en un medio cultural contemporáneo como son los videojuegos. Para ello, se concibe un proceso de expansión literaria dinámico basado en la hipertextualidad de Gerard Genette, el mito de Roland Barthes y la enciclopedia compartida de Umberto Eco, donde la picaresca y el pícaro tomaron la forma de un mito literario. Tras una breve evolución de la picaresca literaria hasta su salto a los videojuegos, se procede a un análisis por casos pormenorizado de la forma que toma el determinismo social en videojuegos en comparación a la vista en literatura. Con ello se demuestra que el determinismo social de la picaresca videolúdica es una evolución natural de su contraparte literaria.
