Introducción: El Quijote hoy

Abstract

Este número monográfico sobre el Quijote se concibe al evidente propósito de celebrar, en 2015, la ocasión del IV centenario de la Segunda Parte. Durante este año, en la antesala también de los aniversarios de la muerte de nuestro autor en 1616 y de la publicación de Los trabajos de Persiles y Sigismunda en 1617, se han producido destacadas noticias de asunto cervantino — como la identificación de los presuntos restos de Cervantes o la publicación de adaptaciones quijotiles a cargo de reputados literatos. La presente efemérides data asimismo un hito en la historia del cervantismo: en los diez años que median entre el aniversario de la publicación de la Primera Parte en 2005 y este, los estudios sobre Cervantes han aligerado perceptiblemente el paso, y el interés por el Quijote se ha crecido en todos los rincones de la filología. En función de ello, reunimos en este volumen una serie de trabajos en torno al Quijote y en la línea de algunas de las temáticas de mayor interés en el cervantismo actual: las características de la novela moderna en el Quijote (la metaficción en el artículo de Julio Jensen y las digresiones episódicas en el mío), su tratamiento y asimilación de tradiciones literarias (los libros de santos en el artículo de Clark Colahan), su recepción en la literature hispánica (Borges en el artículo de Norman Valencia, Jaime Manrique en el de Edward Friedman) y el valor de la historia de Cardenio, que tanta atención crítica ha recibido recientemente en la filología inglesa (en el artículo de Emilio Martínez Mata).
