Für eine Primzahl \(p\) wird die Modulargleichung \(\Phi_p (X, j)=0\) durch das Polynom \[ \Phi_p (X, j)= (X- j(pz)) \prod_{i=0} ^{p-1} (X- j((z+ i)/ p))= \sum a_{n,m} X^n j^m \] gegeben, das ein Polynom in \(X\) und in der elliptischen Modulfunktion \(j(z)\) mit ganzrationalen Koeffizienten ist. Verf. schlägt zur Berechnung der \(a_{n,m}\) vor, die elementarsymmetrischen Polynome in den \(j((z+ i)/p)\) mittels der Newtonschen Formeln durch die Potenzsummen zu ersetzen. Er gibt an, die \(a_{n,m}\) für die Primzahlen \(p\leq 53\) mit dem Computeralgebrasystem Mathematica berechnet zu haben und teilt einige Beobachtungen über Regelmäßigkeiten in der Verteilung der Werte der \(a_{n,m}\) mit.
