Large firms are fully involved in their Digital Transformation, and more specifically, in the development of Business Intelligence (BI) strategic projects. They have a Digital Strategy and top directors managing the change. SMEs also are developing BI projects. In this paper we present the results of an interpretative study from a survey of different SMEs in different economic sectors. These firms are involved in BI projects. We study if maturity models in BI are appropriate for SMEs, and if they are useful to analyse in advance the Project proposals and to evaluate the impact once the projects are closed.
