Conocimento, uso y valorización de plantas medicinales nativas chilenas

Abstract

A lo largo del tiempo el uso, conocimiento y valorización de las plantas medicinales ha estado restringido a un cierto grupo de seres humanos que por su condición de relación con la naturaleza contienen muchos de los saberes de cómo curar con plantas. Se entrevistó a una mujer de la etnia Aymara para conocer como es la relación que su pueblo tiene con las plantas la cual concluyó que a la población en general le falta valorizar las plantas medicinales, conocerlas y saber de su efectividad a nivel fitológico – científico como mágico – espiritual. El descredito y la desvalorización de las plantas medicinales en la actualidad, tanto por parte de la sociedad civil, como de los que gobiernan, ha llevado a realizar diferentes estudios etnobotanicos para intentar preservar estos saberes milenarios y los ecosistemas donde se encuentran estas plantas curativas. Se describen brevemente 4 especies medicinales y sus propiedades curativas: Peumus boldus, laxante suave, anti-inflamatorio, protector hepático y digestivo; Fuchsia magellanica, trata afecciones relacionadas al ciclo menstrual, trastornos hepáticos, diuréticos, son refrescantes y febrífugas; Otholobium glandulosum, trata diarreas, empachos, inapetencia, parásitos intestinales, diabetes y dolor de cabeza y Aristotelia chilensis cura heridas, baja la glicemia, antidiarreicos, febrífugo, anticatarral y cicatrizante.
