The archaeological excavation in the castellum of Inlaceni/Énlaka in 2024

Abstract

The task of the excavation in 2024 was to excavate the northwest corner tower of the fort. It was built in the corner of the arched wall of the castle at an angle of 45°. Only the base and the lowest layer of the tower's mortar rising walls remained. Of the two defensive ditches, the inner one was the ditch of the palisade camp, in the inner edge of which the stone wall was built in 149 AD. The outer ditch was the fossa of the stone fort. The via sagularis was recorded in front of the entrance to the tower, and the tile stamps of the cohors IIII Hispanorum prove that the corner tower was built in the early 3rd century.
