Abstract

Artykuł traktuje o życiu i karierze Gabriela Naudé (1600–1653), który pracował jako bibliotekarz dla Henri’ego II de Mesmes, kardynałów Guido di Bagniego, Richelieu i Mazariniego. Dla tego ostatniego Naudé stworzył od podstaw wielki księgozbiór, który stał się podstawąobecnej biblioteki Institute de France. Artykuł przedstawia także wizję doskonałej biblioteki, którą zawarł Naudé w wydanym w 1627 r. dziele pt. Advis pour dresser une bibliothèque i którą zrealizował na zlecenie kardynała Mazzariniego w latach czterdziestych XVII w. Dzieło to, będące pierwszym praktycznym poradnikiem dla osób pragnących założyć bibliotekę, ma obecnie status niekwestionowanego klasyka.
