Abstract

Autorka omawia i obszernie cytuje listy pisane przez osiadłego w Petersburgu tancerza Feliksa Krzesińskiego do pozostałego w kraju brata, aktora teatrów prowincjonalnych Stanisława Krzesińskiego. Kolekcja rękopisów (dwieście sześćdziesiąt siedem listów) pochodzi ze zbiorów Biblioteki Instytutu Sztuki PAN i zawiera także kilka listów Matyldy Krzesińskiej starszej, jeden list Michała Chomińskiego i kartki imieninowe pisane przez dzieci. W korespondencji można znaleźć wzmianki i informacje o takich osobach ze świata tańca jak Jan Popiel, Barbara Jaworska, Julia, Józef i Matylda Krzesińscy, Marius Petipa, Marianna Majewska; są to jednak dokumenty dotyczące nie tylko życia baletowego, lecz także szeroko rozumianej obyczajowości emigracyjnej. Autorka porządkuje zagadnienia poruszane w listach według kategorii: relacje rodzinne, teatr rosyjski, teatr polski, powiązania baletu z polityką; wiele miejsca poświęca też realiom ekonomicznym epoki. Całość pogłębiają komentarze badaczki, uzupełniającej fakty i konteksty opisywanych wydarzeń.
