Dotknięcie śmierci obrazem – potrzeba sensu. „Wykonać wyrok” Stephena Frearsa

Abstract

Według Waldemara Frąca Wykonać wyrok Frearsa tylko pozornie można rozpatrywać z zastosowaniem wyznaczników filmu gangsterskiego czy czarnej komedii. Według autora jest to obraz, którego najgłębszy sens ujawnia się poprzez znaczącą nieobecność. Frąc wielokrotnie podkreśla paradoksalność tego stwierdzenia, jednak konsekwentnie dowodzi, że w filmie Frearsa widzenie przechodzi w swoją negację. Przykładem tego jest już pierwsza scena filmu, w której bohater i kamera patrzą w jednym kierunku, a jednak widz nie dostrzega tego, na co spogląda bohater. Pojawia się tajemnica, którą kolejne sceny podsycają i dzięki takim ujęciom wyznaczana jest w filmie granica widzenia. Widz odczuwa silne pragnienie nadania sensu temu, co ogląda. W tekście przywołane zostają słowa Béli Balázsa, który twierdził, że nadawanie rzeczom znaczenia jest prafunkcją ludzkiej świadomości.Wyczuwaną od początku potrzebę sensu autor wiąże z obecnym w filmie doświadczeniem śmierci. Frąc konkluduje, że choć w filmie tym sens objawia się na zasadzie negatywnej, to jednak absolutna negacja sensu nie jest możliwa.
