O Estado de Israel e suas minorias não-judaicas: o desafio da cidadania Israelense para a minoria árabe de Israel

Abstract

A criação do Estado de Israel consagrou a realização do projeto sionista e a formação de um Estado judeu, mas, por outro lado, engendrou uma situação contraditória e complexa para a população árabe que se tornou cidadãos de Israel. Essa situação contraditória advém do princípio defendido pelas lideranças sionistas de criar um Estado democrático e liberal, mas que, ao mesmo tempo, preservasse as tradições culturais e idiossincráticas dos judeus, criando uma realidade difícil para sua população não-judaica. Este artigo analisa os desafios da cidadania israelense com relação às suas minorias não-judaicas, especificamente os árabes cidadãos de Israel, e as políticas adotadas pelo Estado para garantir a primazia das condições sociopolíticas dos judeus em detrimento dos árabes. Como pano de fundo do artigo, tratamos do sionismo, dos conceitos de violência direta e estrutural de Johan Galtung, e de debates acerca da cidadania, para compreendermos os dilemas vividos pelas comunidades árabes em Israel.
