The purpose of this study is to find out whether stress coping models mediate the relationship among neuroticism, extraversion characteristics of personality, and psychological burnout of secondary school teachers. For this purpose, a questionnaire was conducted to teachers in secondary schools in Gyeonggi-do. A total of 420 copies of the collected data were statistically analyzed using SPSS 23.0. The research results are as follows: First, the teacher's neuroticism factor had a significant positive correlation with psychological exhaustion while the extraversion factor had a significant negative correlation with psychological exhaustion. Neurotic factors were significantly, positively correlated with emollient coping and wishful thinking models. Extraversion factors were significantly positively correlated with problem-focused, social support-seeking, and wishful thinking coping models. Second, in the relationship between the neurotic factor and psychological exhaustion of teachers, only the emotionally easing coping mechanism had a mediating effect, and only the problem-focused coping mechanism had a mediating effect in the relationship between the extraversion factor and psychological exhaustion. This result suggests that personality characteristics for each factor can affect psychological exhaustion and the importance of stress coping models according to personality characteristics.
