Since 2015, archaeological and architectural investigations have been conducted at the Church of St. Francis Seraph in Poznań. The research revealed the remains of the Gothic church of the Poznań Bernardines, built between 1471 and 1473 and destroyed by the Swedes during the Deluge. The uncovered remains lie embedded in the foundations of the present church’s southern wall. This significant find brings to a close a scholarly debate spanning more than 150 years regarding the precise location of the first masonry Franciscan church in Poznań.
