Translanguaging et alternance codique : quelle est la différence ?

Abstract

Cet article rend compte d’une question fréquemment posée sur la différence qui existe entre le translanguaging et l’alternance codique. En ce qui concerne l’alternance codique, le point de départ est l’identification des langues impliquées, puis l’analyse structurelle ou fonctionnelle ainsi que les objectifs non linguistiques visés par le locuteur. Le translanguaging ne vise pas à remplacer la notion d’alternance codique, mais il se distingue par son intérêt à analyser la manière dont l’utilisateur produit du sens à partir de ses différences ressources linguistiques, cognitives et sémiotiques. Cette définition multimodale et multisensorielle de la notion remet aussi en question les frontières entre les langues nommées, les moyens de communication et les autres capacités cognitives humaines. Le translanguaging se révèle une méthodologie offrant un nouveau cadre conceptuel pour la réflexion et l’analyse comme le Regard, l’Écoute, la Discussion et la Réflexion, ou LLTT (Looking, Listening, Talking, and Thinking).
