Abstract

Le manuscrit conservé aujourd’hui à la Bibliothèque palatine de Parme sous la cote 718 – sans doute compilé dans le Nord de la France à la fin du XIIIe siècle – contient une copie du De musica de Boèce, jusqu’à présent inconnue des musicologues. On y trouve également le De arithmetica de Boèce et divers traités, parmi lesquels un bref traité sur le monochorde, une série de diagrammes sur la classification des connaissances et un poème sur la position des planètes. Il est intéressant de constater que la combinaison des textes contenus dans le manuscrit de Parme offre une similitude frappante avec une source nettement plus ancienne : le manuscrit Paris BNF lat. 7203, manuscrit d’origine française de la fin du XIe ou du début du XIIe siècle. Le volume de Parme a certainement été copié à partir d’éléments dérivant de ce manuscrit plus ancien. Il apporte un nouvel éclairage sur la transmission des apprentissages dans les domaines de la théorie musicale, de la cosmologie et de l’arithmétique au XIIe et XIIIe siècle.
