Il s'attache a demontrer quelques-unes des strategies communicatives que mettent en oeuvre differents discours : sortant du champ strictement litteraire, il envisage tour a tour le discours promotionnel (publicite, offres d'emploi, etc.), le discours academique (preface / avant-propos / introduction, articles scientifiques), ou encore le discours legislatif. Au terme de son analyse, il tente d'en degager les implications dans l'enseignement des langues.
