La estructura sintáctica del discurso en el Diario de Cristóbal Colón

Abstract

La estructura sintáctica de la prosa de Cristóbal Colón, analizada a través de dos pasajes del Diary de su viaje descubridor de América, muestra una notable variedad y, sobre todo, una amplitud expresiva y una complejidad formal muy elevada, sólo comparable a la alcanzada por Nebrija en el "Prólogo" de su Gramática castellana y por Hernán Cortés en sus Cartas al emperador Carlos V, es decir en textos de estilo elevado, solemne, por ir dirigidos a monarcas. La sintaxis de que hacen gala estos tres personajes es la más rica y ampulosa de las que he analizado en escritos medievales, clásicos y modernos de lengua española.
