Abstract

Este artículo estudia las instrucciones dadas a los embajadores de los reyes de Aragón entre los siglos XIII y XV. Estos documentos, excepcionalmente bien conservados, constituyen un jalón importante en la historia general y desconocida de las instrucciones en la Edad Media. Cada instrucción es el resultado de un trabajo intelectual y político a menudo único, es la consecuencia de una «fábrica de la palabra» cuyo fi n es disciplinar y dar efi cacia a la palabra de los embajadores. Asimismo, las instrucciones son un elemento fundamental de la conversación entre los príncipes, ya que permiten su desarrollo fi cticio a través del embajador. Por fi n, la puesta por escrito de las instrucciones, su conservación y posterior consulta contribuyen a la trasmisión y a la consolidación de un habla real que poco a poco se convierte en dinástica.
