Abstract

El presente artículo pasa revista a una serie de diplomas medievales relativos al Cid, conservados como documentos exentos o embebidos en el texto de la «Historia Roderici«. Todos ellos habían sido tradicionalmente considerados auténticos, pero en fechas recientes se ha planteado su posible falsedad. Un repaso de estos documentos desde criterios fi lológicos, jurídicos, diplomáticos y paleográfi cos, en relación con la historia literaria, permite diferenciar las piezas auténticas (diplomas valencianos de Rodrigo y Jimena), las falsifi cadas (apócrifo del abad Lecenio y carta de ingenuación de Vivar) y las fi cciones histórico-literarias (documentos contenidos en la «Historia Roderici«).
