Abstract

Le site de Roucadour (Thémines, Lot), fouillé dès les années 1925, est depuis 1995 l'objet de nouvelles recherches. Une nouvelle importante stratigraphie a été mise au jour, notamment pour l 'Âge du Bronze et le Néolithique. Ces nouveaux travaux de terrain ont été entrepris pour décrire les processus ď évolution géomorphologique locaux, obtenir des datations radiocarbone, acquérir des informations supplémentaires sur les paléoenvironnements et interpréter les fonctionnements du site. Ce texte compare les données chronoculturelles connues aux informations réunies depuis cette date. Les différentes phases d'occupation du site sont sommairement analysées sur le plan culturel puis économique pour proposer une hypothèse d'évolution du statut du site dans l'organisation territoriale caussenarde. Pendant l'Âge du Bronze ancien Roucadour s'inscrit dans une tradition mêlant tout autant influences atlantiques que continentales. Le Quercy est alors également en relation avec le Sud de la France. Mais le petit groupe de paysans qui s 'installe dans la doline exerce alors des activités spécialisées de chasse. Au cours du Bronze moyen, Roucadour est un petit lieu de peuplement agropastoral. Il livre des productions peu originales où le style céramique du Noyer est mal représenté si ce n 'est tardivement. L'Âge du Bronze récent et final est largement présent avec une stratigraphie qui enregistre les mutations culturelles du Bronze final II. Le site joue alors un rôle important dans l'économie du causse de Gramat. À l'Âge du Fer il n'est plus autant central. Puis durant l'Antiquité et le second Âge du Fer Roucadour semble délaissé ou limité à un espace de production agricole.
