Abstract

Este artigo analisa as estrategias ficcionais mobilizadas pela minisserie Capitu , uma adaptacao televisiva do romance Dom Casmurro , de Machado de Assis. Em razao do carater performativo intrinseco as midias audiovisuais, torna-se um desafio, conforme aponta Hutcheon (2006), “traduzir” em termos imageticos—sobretudo em televisao e cinema—as ambiguidades presentes nos textos adaptados. Em se tratando de Machado de Assis, o processo adaptivo revela-se particularmente complexo em virtude nao apenas da narracao por vezes indeterminada de um narrador “inconfiavel” como Bento Santiago mas tambem dos desejos sexuais ambiguos sugeridos pelo romance. O presente trabalho empreende, dessa maneira, analises de aspectos audivisuais da minisserie relativamente a procedimentos tecnicos como edicao e montagem de imagens, caracterizacao de personagens, figurinos e maquiagem com o objetivo de investigar como a manipulacao desses recursos estetico-formais contribui para sugerir as distorcoes espacotemporais, as indeterminacoes narrativas e as ambiguidades sexuais dos seres ficcionais presentes no texto-fonte.
