Regulasi Emosi berdasarkan Kepribadian Big Five Personality pada Mahasiswa Psikologi Universitas Negeri Padang

Abstract

Kepribadian dan regulasi emosi merupakan dua aspek penting yang saling berkaitan dalam kehidupan manusia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara regulasi emosi dan lima dimensi kepribadian berdasarkan teori Big Five Personality pada mahasiswa Universitas Negeri Padang. Pendekatan kuantitatif digunakan dengan metode komparatif. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 101 mahasiswa yang diambil menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) dan Big Five Inventory-2 Short Form (BFI-2). Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara regulasi emosi dan lima dimensi kepribadian, baik secara keseluruhan (nilai korelasi = 0,136; p > 0,05) maupun per dimensi. Uji linearitas dan normalitas mendukung validitas data, namun tidak menunjukkan hubungan linear antara variabel. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa dimensi kepribadian dalam teori Big Five tidak secara langsung memengaruhi kemampuan regulasi emosi mahasiswa. Faktor eksternal seperti pengalaman hidup, dukungan sosial, atau tingkat stres diduga lebih berperan. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi teoretis dalam memahami hubungan antara kepribadian dan regulasi emosi serta menawarkan rekomendasi untuk penelitian lanjutan, termasuk analisis variabel mediator atau moderator yang relevan. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat mendorong pengembangan intervensi untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan emosional mahasiswa di lingkungan pendidikan tinggi.
