Abstract AVESTA 253MA is a chromium-nickel steel modified by small quantities of rare earth metals and nitrogen. It is a high-temperature steel with good creep properties and outstanding resistance to oxidation. AVESTA 253MA has good mechanical properties at room and elevated temperatures. It can be easily fabricated and welded. Applications include burners, muffles, heat exchangers, quenching fixtures, expansion bellows, guide plates and combustion nozzles. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness and creep. It also includes information on high temperature performance and corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SS-460.
