A graduate of the National Theatre School, Wendell Dennis has been working with Montreal’s Theatre du Nouveau Monde as head of its properties department since 1969. This past Fall, Dennis was given the opportunity to design his first mainstage production at TNM, Alfred Jarry’s surrealistic comedy, Ubu Roi (the production was called Ubu and also included Ubu Enchaine) directed by Jean-Pierre Ronfard. In addition to Ubu, Dennis has designed sets for TNM’s noontime theatre productions and the costumes for Dario Fo’s Les Archanges. He is presently designing sets for TNM’s production of Jean Barbeau’s Citrouille. When not designing, Dennis teaches design at Montreal’s John Abbott College.
