There is so much emphasis on verbal communication in our culture that a vast resource of physical language has been wasted. There has been such despicable exploitation of the human body as a product to be controlled by the manipulation of our identities that our body language has been reduced to cliches and trite images. Theatrically, however, there is at least one director in the country who is working against the disappearance of physical language — Montreal Director Alexander Hausvater.
